Walk the Sacred Path in the Mountains of Spain
Throughout the Garabandal apparitions, the girls were subjected to intense scrutiny and testing by doctors, psychiatrists, Church officials, and skeptics. They were separated and questioned repeatedly, sometimes harshly, to try to find contradictions or evidence of fraud. Medical professionals performed examinations during their ecstasies, including painful tests, yet the girls remained completely oblivious to physical stimuli while in ecstasy. Despite this pressure and skepticism, their testimonies remained consistent over four years and into their adult lives, never wavering in the essential details of what they experienced.
Our Lady specifically highlighted the importance of the Holy Eucharist: "We must visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently." At the time, in the early 1960s, frequent Eucharistic adoration was not common practice among Catholics. This message anticipated the later decline in Eucharistic devotion and belief in the Real Presence that would trouble the Church. Mary was calling the faithful back to recognizing Jesus truly present in the tabernacle, waiting for souls to visit Him, console Him, and adore Him.
The Warning will cause such profound conversion that many will die of shock upon seeing the state of their souls, according to the visionaries' descriptions. However, those who survive will have been given the greatest gift—perfect knowledge of their spiritual state and what they must do to be saved. The Warning serves as preparation for the Miracle, allowing people to purify themselves before witnessing God's power manifested at Garabandal. Those who refuse to convert even after the Warning will be without excuse when judgment comes.
