Way of the Cross
Blue Army Sorrowful Rosary Shrine, located within the Rosary Garden at the Blue Army Shrine in New Jersey. Here, we enter into prayerful meditation on the Sorrowful Mysteries, uniting our hearts with Christ’s Passion and Mary’s sorrowful love.
Offer this Rosary for those who are suffering, for the strength to carry your own cross, and for the conversion of hearts.
The Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
In Gethsemane, Jesus felt the weight of the world's sins, yet He prayed even more fervently. We ask for the grace to turn to prayer first in our moments of anxiety, surrendering our will to the Father just as Christ did under the olive trees.
1 Our Father • 10 Hail Marys • 1 Glory Be
Every stripe Jesus bore was a testament to His love for us. We pray for the spirit of mortification—the ability to deny our own selfish impulses so that we may live more purely for God and for the service of others.
1 Our Father • 10 Hail Marys • 1 Glory Be
The King of Kings accepted a crown of mockery. We pray for moral courage—that we may stand up for our faith and for the truth, even when it leads to ridicule or social discomfort, trusting in God's eternal crown.
1 Our Father • 10 Hail Marys • 1 Glory Be
Jesus fell three times but always got back up to complete His mission. We ask for the gift of perseverance. When our burdens feel too heavy and we stumble, may we find the strength to rise again and keep walking toward Calvary.
1 Our Father • 10 Hail Marys • 1 Glory Be
"Father, forgive them." From the Cross, Jesus gave us the ultimate example of mercy. We pray for the grace to forgive those who have hurt us, releasing our resentment into His wounds so that we may find true peace.
1 Our Father • 10 Hail Marys • 1 Glory Be
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
O God, whose only-begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that by meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
V. May the divine assistance remain always with us. R. Amen.
V. And may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. R. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
While my heart was deeply moved by the medjugorje luminous rosary in Bosnia, I realized that the spirit of pilgrimage doesn't have to end when the plane lands. Being a New Jersey resident, I discovered a hidden gem right in our own backyard: the National Blue Army Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Washington, NJ. Standing in their expansive Rosary Garden, I felt that same profound "Mir" (peace) that I experienced on Apparition Hill.
At the Blue Army Shrine, the Rosary Garden is designed as a circular walk that allows you to meditate on the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious mysteries in a natural, park-like setting. When I walk through the Joyful Mysteries there, the lush NJ greenery reminds me of the new life and hope found in the Annunciation. It’s a place where you can truly "unplug" from the North Jersey hustle and just be present with the Gospa.
The Sorrowful Mysteries at the shrine hit differently when you are walking outdoors. Much like the rugged climb up Cross Mountain, the physical act of walking from station to station helps me internalize the weight of the Passion. It makes the medjugorje luminous rosary feel like a natural bridge—connecting the ministry of Jesus to His ultimate sacrifice. I found that praying the Sorrowful mysteries at the NJ shrine helped me prepare my heart for the deep silence of the Eucharist back in Medjugorje.
Finally, the Glorious Mysteries at the Blue Army Shrine offer a sense of victory. Seeing the statue of Our Lady of Fatima at the end of the walk reminds me that her messages in Portugal and Bosnia are one and the same: a call to prayer, penance, and peace. Whether you are praying the medjugorje luminous rosary for a personal intention or seeking the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima for the world, these gardens serve as a physical reminder that we are never alone on our journey.
If you decide to visit the Blue Army Shrine, I recommend going on a weekday morning when it is most quiet. Just like the medjugorje luminous rosary garden, the NJ shrine is a place where "less is more." You don't need a lot of books or guides—just your beads and a heart ready to listen. They have a beautiful chapel and often hold outdoor masses during the warmer months, which really brings that "village" feel of Medjugorje to the hills of Warren County. This connection between my home state and my favorite pilgrimage site has made my daily prayer life so much richer.
By connecting these two sacred spaces, we see that the medjugorje luminous rosary is part of a much larger tapestry of faith. From the stone paths of Bosnia to the garden walks of New Jersey, the Light of Christ is always there, waiting for us to notice it. I hope this guide helps you find your own local "garden of peace" as you continue your journey through the mysteries of the Rosary.
