The Via Sacra at Valinhos was the very first stop on our pilgrimage. Under a bright, hot Portuguese sun, I walked this sacred path alongside my sister and her husband.
Watching them move from station to station, I realized this may have been their first time truly experiencing the Way of the Cross in such a profound, physical way. We walked in a quiet, shared heat—never quite finding the words to discuss the experience, but feeling the weight of it together.
Between the stone-carved stations, I was captivated by the unique, ancient trees that guard this path, their weathered branches reaching out like silent witnesses to the faith of those who walk here.
Our pilgrimage began here, on the stone-paved paths of Valinhos. Sharing this walk with my sister and her husband was a gift—even if we walked in the quiet reflection of the heat, feeling the profound weight of each station together.
The Via Crucis is a journey that changes us, whether it is our first time walking it or our hundredth. It is a path where silence speaks louder than words, and every ancient tree along the way stands as a witness to our prayers.
Are you taking your first steps on a new journey of faith today? I would love to walk with you in prayer.
