Walk by Faith

Right now, I find myself in a season of waiting. I watch the world shift — politics growing more uncertain, hurt and unrest stretching farther each day. It's hard not to wonder where all of this is leading. But even while I watch, I walk. I walk in prayer. I walk in trust. I walk by faith, believing God's hand is still at work even when I can't see it.

Walking by Faith Isn't the Absence of Fear

There's no denying the world feels unstable right now. I won't pretend none of it stirs fear in me — I watch, I wonder, I feel that quiet ache of what if. But here's what I'm learning: to walk by faith doesn't mean I'm fearless. It means I know where my peace actually comes from.

Jesus promised a peace the world can't give — one that isn't tied to circumstances or headlines. It's the quiet assurance that even when everything else shifts, He remains unshaken. So I walk on. Not because I'm brave, and not because I have it figured out, but because that peace steadies my steps even when fear is whispering something else.

When You Feel Like Nothing Is Happening

To walk by faith often feels slow — waiting without answers, praying without hearing a response, taking step after step with no clear sign of progress. But I believe this is when God is most at work. The unseen steps, the ones no one else notices, are where faith grows its deepest roots. They're the quiet yeses that prepare us for the bold leaps that come later. Faith grows not only in the big moments, but in the daily ones where we simply choose to stay.

Walking by faith means trusting God when life feels ordinary or uncertain — stepping forward even without seeing the outcome, believing He's working behind the scenes in ways you may never fully know. It builds perseverance, courage, and a quiet strength that prepares you for whatever comes next. It's not about having all the answers, or being free from doubt. It's about placing your trust in the One who holds your future.

Saint Augustine wrote about handing the past to God's mercy, the present to His love, and the future to His care — letting each piece of time rest in the right place instead of carrying all of it at once. St. Teresa of Ávila put her finger on the whole thing even more plainly: "To have courage for whatever comes in life — everything lies in that."

That's really what it looks like for me day to day. I don't live in the past, and I don't know what the future holds — I'm just trying to get through the now. Walking by faith means dealing with things as they come up, one at a time, without needing the whole picture first.

I think that's also part of why so many people struggle to believe. They pray, and when nothing sudden or dramatic happens, they quietly decide God isn't listening — so they stop praying. I used to think that way too. But I've felt the change happen in me over time, even without one big moment to point to. That's enough for me now.
