From Stillness to Surrender
Sometimes, faith grows in quiet ways. My journey began in a silent place—holding steady through grief, feeling unmoved while the world shifted around me. I spent years in a quiet season, learning what it meant to walk in faith without always seeing God’s hand at work.
But that wasn’t the end of the story. It was the preparation. Because faith doesn’t only call us to stay. Sometimes, it asks us to leap.
There’s a kind of leap that feels like standing on the edge of a ladder, hands and feet off the rungs, nothing holding you up. That was me. After years of enduring a toxic workplace and choosing humility and restraint, God placed something new on my heart: it was time to let go.
I knew the world would call this reckless. But I also knew I couldn’t stay. Not in my own strength. This was my true leap of faith—the moment I released every human assurance and stepped forward into God’s arms alone.
We often think a leap is about where we’ll land. But faith isn’t about outcomes; it’s about surrender. I didn’t leap because I was brave. I leapt because God invited me, and I was finally ready to trust that His hands were enough.
"God catches you. Always. Not always in the way you expect, but always in the way you need."
What does it truly mean to take a leap of faith in our modern world? For many Catholics, it starts with the promptings of the Holy Spirit during prayer or Adoration. We are often called to a "Leap" after a long period of "Walking." While walking in faith involves daily obedience and persistence, the leap requires a total surrender of our security. Whether you are facing a career change, a difficult relationship, or a new spiritual calling, remember that the virtue of faith is a gift that strengthens us to move even when the path is hidden. By looking to the examples of the Saints and meditating on the Mysteries of the Rosary, we find the courage to say 'Yes' to God’s plan, even when it lacks a safety net.
Have you ever felt God calling you to let go—without a backup plan? Your story of surrender could be the "mustard seed" of hope someone else needs today. I would love to hear about your own leap of faith.
